CHILD WELFARE for people involved with Players who are still U18

CHILD WELFARE


All persons involved in Tam management or Team Support at both Adult and Underage level dealing with players under 18 years must ensure that they are fully fully Child Welfare Compliant.


THIS IS A STATUTORY OBLIGATION ON THE CLUB AND THE PERSON

PREREQUISITES REQUIRED TO COACH JUVENILES – CHILD SAFETY AND GARDA VETTING & Child Coaching Course


Each mentor dealing with players whoare Under 18 (  have not yet reached their 18th birthday)  on  an underage team or an adult team must be

1. Garda Vetted

2. Safeguarded

3. Have completed the Introduction to Gaelic Games Coaching Course.

Again, you CANNOT coach any children until these two requirements are satisfied – Garda Vetting (lasts for three years) and an updated Child Safeguarding Level 1.

If they are not fully compliant they cannot be legally involved with players under 18 years of age -

>  in a coaching capacity , items 1,2,3 must be completed &

> in a supervisory / committee capacity items 1 & 2 must be completed.



Garda Vetting: Garda Vetting recognition has to be renewed every 3 years via the Foireann System. www.foireann.ie    
Loging to your Foireann Account ( https://www.foireann.ie/ ) and go through the process, its a matter of uploading some documents and then following up making use it has been issued (you should receive an email with confirmation).  The process is documented here: https://www.gaa.ie/the-gaa/child-safeguarding-and-protection/vetting   USING THE FOIREANN SYSTEM to complete GARDA VETTING 

Those who were vetted prior to or during 2021 will need to be re-vetted in 2024.

All new coaches/mentors need to be garda vetted before they can commence activity with underage players.

Kelloggs Cúl Camp Coaches and Helpers must also be vetted 

Safeguarding Training

You must complete a Child Safeguarding 1 Course, if you have completed this course within the past three years then you just need to complete an online refresher course within 3 years and a face to face course in a further 3 years 
Safeguarding1 (for all coaches/mentors) has to be completed every three years – face to face followed by online

SAFEGUARDING COURSE – THIS MUST BE COMPLETED BY EVERYONE.
