Our u14 ladies faced off against Kinsale in their County Championship semi final in the park last Monday evening.
In what was a very tight game the girls in blue took the win on the night to progress to this year's final.
Bantry started well with a Sophie o Donnell point on two minutes with Kinsale replying with a point in the fourth minute.Kinsale registered another point on eight minutes but Bantry gained the upper hand with goals from Emma Harrington and Emily o Neill in the ninth and fourteenth minutes.
Another point from Fia Russell on eighteen minutes edged Bantry further ahead with Kinsale registering another point on twenty one minutes.
It was end to end stuff with both teams giving it their all but Bantry were more accurate in front of goal and a cracking goal from Lily Rose o Donovan on twenty six minutes saw Bantry leading at the break on a scoreline of 3.2 to 0.4.
The second half of this game proved to be much tighter with Kinsale throwing everything at the Bantry defence.A goal on five minutes put them right back into it before Bantry registered their first score of the second half with a Sophie o Donnell pointed free in the thirteenth minute.
Another Kinsale goal in the twentieth minute was followed a minute later by a point to level the game and a couple of fine saves from Bantry goalkeeper Layla Rose Kingston Fitzgerald kept Bantry in it.The Bantry defence was working overtime but were coping well with Kinsale pressure and a Callie o Donoghue pointed free on twenty four minutes stemmed the tide.Everyone one of the girls in blue were working their socks off and further Callie o Donoghue points in the twenty fifth and twenty seventh minutes saw Bantry close out the game and take the spoils on the night on a scoreline of 3.6 to 2.4.
Well done to each and every one of the girls on a fantastic win.
