Our Junior 1 ladies faced off against Rosscarbery in their final group game of their Division 2 County Senior League campaign in the park this afternoon.
Having already qualified for this year's final the girls in blue were looking to end the group stage on a high note.
It was Rosscarbery who started the brightest opening the scoring with a pointed free in the fourth minute.Another point on six minutes followed by a pointed free in the twelfth minute saw them well in control of affairs before Bantry registered their first score with a well taken point in the fifteenth minute.Rosscarbery's reply was instant with four unanswered points and a goal before Bantry scored their second point of the game in the twenty fifth minute, despite numerous scoring opportunities, to leave Rosscarbery leading at half time on a scoreline of 1.6 to 0.2.
This was definitely a game of two halves as Bantry came out all guns blazing for the second half and were on the scoreboard within three minutes with a lovely point.
Indeed they were to score five unanswered points to really put this game in the melting pot but would rue some wayward shooting that was to cost them getting something from this game and it was Rosscarbery who closed out the scoring with three pointed frees to take the win on a scoreline 1.9 to 0.8.
After a great campaign this group have now qualified for this year's Div 2 County Senior League final away to Carrigaline which is a great achievement having won the Div 3 final last year.
Date and time for this game tbc.
