Our Junior Ladies made the long journey to Kanturk to take on Abhainn Dalla in the next round of their County Senior League division 2 campaign this afternoon.
This proved to be a tight affair and after an enthralling hour of football the girls in blue emerged victorious by the tightest of margins to secure another valuable three points on the road.
Abhainn Dalla started this game very strongly, catching the Bantry defence cold with two goals inside the first six minutes.Bantry slowly settled into it and registered their first score with a well taken point in the eight minute followed up with further scores in the twelfth and fifteenth minutes.
Both teams were well met and playing some good football when Abhainn Dalla registered their first point on nineteen minutes.
A fantastic goal from Bantry in the twentieth minute put them right back into it and two further points just before the break saw them leading at half time on a scoreline of 1.5 to 2.1
The second half of this game proved to be just as tight with both teams giving it their all in very warm conditions.
Again Abhainn Dalla opened the scoring with two points but Bantry replied in kind with points in the third and sixth minutes.
This was to be the pattern of the game as both teams traded points but a well worked goal for the girls in blue in the twenty first minute gave them the upper hand.
Abhainn Dalla to their credit kept battling and rattled off four unanswered points to really put this game in the melting pot but some tenacious defending and excellent teamwork from Bantry saw the girls in blue take the spoils in what was a great game of football.
Next up for this group is a home game against Araglen Desmonds in the park next Friday evening at 8pm. 💙🤍
