Our Junior Ladies made the long journey to Newmarket last Sunday afternoon to face Abhainn Dalla in the second round of this year's Junior A County Championship.
Seeking their first win of this year's campaign the girls in blue put in a great effort but it was Abhainn Dalla who came away with the spoils on the day.
A tight first half saw Bantry open the scoring after just one minute with a well taken point with Abhainn Dalla replying just a minute later.
Both teams were finding scores hard to come by and after twelve minutes the game was level at two points apiece.
Abhainn Dalla were proving to be more accurate in front of goal however and they took a lead of 0.6 to 0.2 in at the break.
Again both teams traded scores at the start of the second half but Abhainn Dalla were slowly but surely starting to take control of this game.They kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely with some well worked scores and despite the best efforts of the Bantry girls they had opened up a sizeable lead going into the final stages of the game and they eventually ran out winners on a scoreline of 0.18 to 0.6.
Next up for Bantry is a home fixture against Erins Own on September 6th at 2.30pm in what will be their final group game in this year's round robin series.
